J-Bar Braunvieh is owned and operated by John and Loretta Hall. They calved their first Braunvieh influenced calves in 1996. Their focus has always been to breed fertile, efficient, maternal cattle that would be offered as breeding bulls, bred heifers or young pairs.
They have traditional brown, black and polled Braunvieh, Fullbloods, Purebreds and Percentage Beef Builders available for sale. The original herd of cows were developed through carcass testing for the Gelbvieh Association. These genetics will add hybrid vigor to an Angus based herd, keep your maternal traits and improve your yield grade. We keep data on each individual calf in the herd from conception to consumption.
DNA genetic testing for feed efficiency and tenderness on the herd bulls has greatly enhanced the slow process of generational improvement. Bulls are gain tested and ultra-sounded with data available upon request.
We have done well in the San Antonio Livestock Show, Houston Livestock Show and TCFA Beef Challenge carcass calves, Genetic Development Center Navasota, TX, Midland Bull Test in Columbus, Montana and Green Springs Bull Test in Nevada, Missouri. Tucumcari Bull Test in New Mexico, Rio Grande Valley Bull Test in Edinburg, Texas and PX Feeders, LLC.
